What to expect in Longreach

Longreach is 1180 kilometres from Brisbane, on the Tropic of Capricorn, not far from the edge of the desert in western Queensland. With a sparse population and big landscapes, it’s a different world! The town has all necessities but not too much in the way of cutting-edge fashion! We have cafés and lattés but you’re more likely to hear people discussing cattle prices than coffee blends! Nightlife? We make our own, getting together with friends and workmates around a BBQ by the river or in one of the local restaurants.

Current vacancies

Commercial Cook

Are you equally at home up-sizing a family recipe for a stockman’s stew to feed 50+ as you are bringing fresh inspiration to outback fare for the restaurant and cafe? You could be just the person we need!

Housekeeper

Help us create the Outback Pioneers experience with an eye for the detail that sets the scene for our guests. You need to lead, inspire and motivate the team to deliver absolutely spotless rooms each day.

Restaurant Team Leader

Help create the Outback Pioneers experience. You will love working with people, have a can-do attitude with a good eye for organisation and detail. You will oversee our barista and wait-staff for our Evening Dining Experiences.

Wait-Staff

Are you calm and friendly, efficient and attentive? Then you’re the sort of person we need to look after guests at breakfast, lunch and our special Stonegrill Dining Experience and Country Classics dinners.

Reservations Consultant

You will be the first voice many people hear or the first face they see when they want to book a holiday, experience or accommodation with us. Your friendliness, professionalism and outstanding customer service will form their all-important first impression.

Bus Driver

We’re seeking an experienced bus driver to transport guests to and from our experiences. You’ll be a people person who enjoys entertaining and providing interesting facts and anecdotes throughout the journey. If this sounds like you, please enquire below.

Boat Skipper

Can you entertain our guests with commentary as you skipper them safely on our sunset river cruise? You’ll be telling the stories of our historic paddlewheelers and their role in the outback. We will train you in the details but your natural enthusiasm will help create an experience our guests will remember. See the position description for licences required. If you can also drive a 57-seat bus that is an advantage in our small team.

Stagecoach Driver

If you’re experienced in handling horses and horse-drawn vehicles, safety conscious AND you have great people skills and a warm personality, you could be just the person we need for our Cobb & Co stagecoach experiences. We can train you in the specifics – just bring your spirit of adventure and be ready to embrace the outback!

Entertainers (Old Time Tent Show)

We’re looking for performers with a good sense of visual comedy, the ability to improvise and the confidence to handle our trained animals (trained to RSPCA standards). You’ll also be responsible for backstage tasks and for giving other support for our guest experiences. Share the old time traditions and send our guests away with big grins on their faces!

Entertainer (Campfire)

This is a special role and a highlight of our sunset cruise. With guests gathered for dinner around the gidgee-wood campfire by the river, you will inspire them, educate them, entertain them and make them laugh with your own unique brand of traditional bush entertainment. Your passion for the outback and your own bush stories are more important than performance training. Our guests want to meet an authentic bush character.
