Longreach Family Fun Holiday
Make every day an exciting discovery on our outback holiday.
This 5-day family holiday is full of outback entertainment, experiences, tours and activities designed to appeal to children and adults alike. You’ll stay in our self-catering Homestead Stables or comfortable Outback Lodges accommodation in Longreach (depending on family size).
Get ready for a real family adventure! Pack up the car (4WD not necessary) or fly in and enjoy an outback experience that will be part of your family’s memories forever.
This is something the children should experience at least once in their lifetime for an understanding of Australia’s story, for good old-fashioned fun and for plenty of the simple pleasures that often get forgotten in city life. If parents can’t get away, some lucky kids have grandparents who bring them for a school holiday treat!
ARRIVAL DAY: Friday
What you’ll enjoy:
Friday Check in after 2pm and get ready for a real outback experience. Time for a swim before having a BBQ and watching an outdoor movie. Watch quietly in the late afternoon and you’ll probably see kangaroos coming to feed… [D]
Saturday Start early for a full day Winton Discovery Experience and visit a dinosaur heaven sure to excite kids and adults alike. The holiday includes entry to the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum and Dinosaur Canyon. Enjoy lunch in the North Gregory Hotel, where Banjo Paterson first performed Waltzing Matilda, and visit the brand new Waltzing Matilda Centre*. [B,L]
Sunday This is a day for your own family fun. Take the bikes and trail maps to explore, hang out by the pool or the kids can do the Pioneer Treasure Trail activity on site while parents take a breather. Walk into town along the Botanic Way and see if you can spot any emus. [B]
Monday Everyone’s going to love the Cobb & Co Stagecoach Experience with a gallop along bush tracks, the hilarious Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show with its cast of animals, and a classic bush movie with popcorn provided! In the evening there’s more fun with Starlight’s Cruise Experience including a hearty stockman’s campfire dinner, bush poetry and Starlight’s Spectacular Sound & Light Picture Show [B,MT,D]
Tuesday Make the most of late check-out and a trip to see the real pioneering outback way of life on the historic Nogo Station – a sheep shearing demonstration, station safari to spot the outback animals, Captain Starlight’s Stockyards and morning tea in the homestead. [B,MT]
