Outback Pioneers and Longreach Tourist Park are delighted to announce that they have come together to create a next-generation experience for Longreach visitors.

Under the Outback Pioneers brand umbrella, Longreach Tourist Park will be transformed to set the theme and standard for guests, whether ‘grey nomads’, fly-in professionals, groups or budget-conscious families.

A major investment in the facilities over the coming few years will give the town a much-needed boost. It will bring employment opportunities and cement tourism growth to benefit all local services, retailers and our iconic attractions.

Responding to the growing demand from travellers for a deeper immersion in the places they visit, the transformed park will be a unique outback experience in itself. Guests will stay longer and spend more in the region.

Richard Kinnon said Outback Pioneers has always been keen to make accommodation part of the whole outback pioneering experience.

“Together, we plan to bring our award-winning vision to the park and to invest in exciting improvements and additions so guests get into the outback spirit from the moment they arrive,” Richard Kinnon said.

“Outback Pioneers’ vision to create an accommodation complex that gives people a lived understanding of our pioneering history started with our heritage-inspired Outback Accommodation and will continue with this fantastic new venture.”

David van Herwaarde, of Longreach Tourist Park, said bringing together accommodation and immersion activities has always been a long-term plan for the park. The merger with Outback Pioneers will be a significant benefit to the town as our guests spend time enjoying Longreach’s unique activities and using its services.

The changes to Longreach Tourist Park will begin in 2020 and it will continue to evolve and position Longreach tourism for the higher expectations of future visitors.

The tourist park’s Woolshed Restaurant will be the first to be reimagined and will be a focal point for Outback Pioneers’ dining experiences from 2020 onwards.

Outback Pioneers will update everyone with more details as they unfold. In the meantime, staff at the new merged business are looking forward to welcoming guests to Longreach in the 2020 season.

The two companies both bring decades of tourism experience to support the vision.
Outback Pioneers is a multi-award winning company with two recent Gold Awards from the Queensland Tourism Awards and the 2019 Visitors’ Choice Award for Experiences from the Outback Queensland Tourism Awards. The Longreach Tourist Park has been the town’s largest accommodation provider for many years and already accommodates around 80,000 visitors a year.
