WHEN TO COME
The winter – from April to the end of October is the most comfortable season for climate and is the season to enjoy all the Outback Pioneer experiences. April, May and October tend to have fewer tourists and can be a great time to come! If you’re an intrepid traveller who visits in summer, our accommodation is ready to welcome you year round and do pop into The Station Store to say ‘G’day’.
Our 2017 tour season is from 3 April to 31 October.
Longreach sits on the Tropic of Capricorn and our climate is hot and often wet in summer (although there have been severe droughts in recent years), warm and dry with cold nights in winter. See more about the Longreach climate at www.bom.gov.au.
WHAT TO BRING
A hat is good idea for any time of year – but you can always wait until you come and buy an outback beauty at The Station Store.
Winter evenings in the outback can be pretty cold so be sure to pack a jumper and jacket for evening activities.
We recommend sunglasses and sunscreen for the bright, sunny days.
Longreach has a good range of shops, supermarkets, pharmacies and petrol stations so you’ll find most things you need here and the local traders appreciate your support.
