Nogo Station Experience
Discover our outback lifestyle and legends with a fascinating station tour.
Outback history and a contemporary working station come together at Nogo Station. This is the home of Abigail (née Kinnon) and you’ll get to experience her famous baking at the huge smoko (morning tea), designed for big outback appetites. You’ll also get up close to the past and present of this grazing property, including a sheep shearing demonstration and the ruins of Captain Starlight’s stockyards.
Sheep had a huge role in Australia’s history and our sheep-shearing demonstration reveals what life is like in the shearing sheds where so many iconic outback stories began. You’ll also experience the ‘station water run’ – a daily part of station life, checking water sources and making sure livestock have water. During the water run we’ll show you Captain Starlight’s stockyards – the ruins of the stockyards said to have been used by Harry Redford to keep hundreds of cattle before his big journey south. Back at the homestead, you’ll learn more of the station’s history and you can explore some of the public rooms in the house and get a sense for what life would have been like here in the pioneering past. See where Abigail creates her Abigail’s Outback Kitchen range of baking, preserves and pickles and taste some for yourself at the country-style ‘smoko’ (morning tea)!
